FATEC - Federació d'Associacions de Gent Gran de Catalunya

It is a non profit entity created in 1982 and recognized of Public Utility in 1995. In 1999 it was awarded with the Saint George Cross by the Catalonian Government. It owns more than 500 associations and specialized organizations federated, representing more than 400.000 people (65 and over)

In addition to its representation with the local, regional and national authorities for improving the social and elderly life conditions it organizes courses and seminars. It organizes training courses to access the new information technologies, courses for the retirement preparation and the volunteers' promotion towards the society, etc.

There are also Implementation programs of physical exercise specialized for the elderly people, Seminaries on nourishment and health, on answerable consumption, environment, etc. And it organizes cultural trips and journeys. It works with intergenerational programs and European projects.

FATEC publishes a quarterly review of information for elders called "Tardor" (Autumn) that is sent out (10.000 copies) and it has the Internet site: www.gentgran.org

FATEC is also a charter member of FIAPA - International Federation of the Elderly People Associations.
